Like many artists already struggling economically, artist Jaime Acker’s exhibitions and films for this year have been cancelled. But he is continuing his project of exploring gender and masculinity. In the early hours of the morning, before his family are up and before he begins home-schooling and cooking for his family, he puts on his makeup, plays with sets and costumes. These self-portraits express the vigour and tenderness of a man challenging his gender image at a time of uncertainty.
