Issue One: Witches n’ Bitches

From Lilith, Adam’s first wife, cast out of Eden & the Bible, to Sheela Na Gigs, Kali, Pandora and Courtney Love, females are celebrated and maligned as harbingers of unreason, rebellion, forbidden power and death.  How fabulous – and irksome…  As revealed by the current maelstrom revealing the sexual harassment of women, from the British Tory party to Hollywood to the patronising nationalist hounding of young peace activist Gurmehar Kaur,  global society (at least, those of us privileged enough to protest imbalances) has once again reached a tipping point.

It’s time to re-evaluate culture’s antipathy towards the feminine, as our half of the Earth, based in the Welsh Marches but with contributors worldwide, tips towards winter.  And so, we bring you ‘Witches n’ Bitches’, with Rosalind Jana on aging and decay in fashion, Soma Ghosh on the horror and salvation of Goddess Kali, cackling poetry from Eley Williams and a series of parties and provocative gatherings curated for you by our Bacchanalians.  The Dark Season has begun..
