DJ mix Issue 22: Dreaming

Dream-work lyrics are given full funk treatment by R Stevie Moore in his version of “I Wish Marvin’s Father Had Shot Me Instead” (The Chrysanthemums). “Soda Dreamer” is a perfect Demented Goddess tune, as is Roxy Music’s “In Every Dream Home A Heartache”. Just like in dreaming, the mix swooshes between sinister moods and upbeat fantasies; the innocuously titled “Dave’s Dream” by reverently remembered Broadcast is a creepy, psych-lounge reverie, and Depeche Mode’s “Dreaming of Me” is just sickeningly great. I also included Acid Arab. The iconic, dearly missed DJ Andrew Weatherall, who died at the end of February, was a fan. That affirmed my choice.
